Default that MM 2.5 thing

let me tell you Kurn earned every penny he is going to win for just grinding his way through the first round. UGH! Started with 4377 - down to around 900 - i am in the middle. Talk about a tourney grind!

(btw - not looking for any railbirds - that is why i posted this here)

Thanks. The one I ended up making it from had 6200 runners. I played 4 others prior to that one. The first I made it through 2/3 of the field, the other 3 I busted pretty early.

I ended up busting out at around 350ish or so - maybe a little higher. I might fire up another one or two (heck, they are only 10 FPPs) and just sort of run them in the background. Seems to be worthwhile to wait for a big hand early and gamble with it as people are pretty aggressive-loose early on.

Yeah, that would be a bit frustrating to get that deep and have nothing to show for it.

Can you imagine finishing 51st in this thing?!?!

Thay are "donkalites."

Duh.

And he didn't say how many were left when he was 4th. If they were down under 70, yeah, take a walk.... but there could have been 500 left when he was in 4th.

He said he lost all his chips there, and finished 67th. Sounds pretty conclusive to me.

Actually, he said he "was crippled." He could have hung on with a short stack for another couple hundred players.

Wow... not making it from that spot is pretty bad. Hopefully you at least learned from your mistake(s).

I notice a lot of people doing this type of thing in these and other low-level satellites - not protecting their huge stack when 1st and 50th is the same results. I made the mistake (twice) recently of assuming that the really big stacks would play ultra tight (as i would), at least in terms of calling all-ins and getting involved in big pots withe questionable hands. I am not saying they should get up and walk away, but if its me with the big stack - i try to steal the blinds, maybe see some cheap flops and steal small pots, etc....

I tried blind steals on big stacks when i was low and got called by medium strong hands (i.e. 9s and Ax). If it was me, i wouldn't call an all-in for 1/5 or 1/6 of my stack in that position - but what do i know.

Live and learn i guess. I think in a higher level of satellite - that play will work (stealing off of the really big stacks).

At that spot I stop playing anything except AA or KK and then only against a stack that wouldn't cripple you. You can fold your way to a spot so playing any hand doesn't help you at all.

Right... In tourneys like this, at the stage we are talking about, it's the SMALL stacks that should be picking on the BIG stacks, not vice versa like in a normal tourney. I don't understand at all the guys with the big stacks who don't get that and make loose calls against all in bets, etc.

You are playing for 50th place, not first. Take a walk.

ya, u guys are right, its just at that time havin that many chips in front of u, u kinda think that ur gonna make it for sure, but def after that i realize i made a mistake but not sittin out, or just not even playin any hands, i mean i knew the chip leader was playin loose, so it was stupid of me tryin to do that at that perticular Time.

lesson learned...
