2007 WSOP Main Event...
With FOUR Day 1s and TWO Day 2s, I decided not to even bother with any of the reports until now.... Here are some notes of interest.
There are 797 players remaining in the Main Event. Tournament Notes (through End Day Two) -- The $10,000 buy-in championship event attracted 6,358 players. This qualifies as the second-largest live poker tournament in history. Only the 2006 main event attracted more entries (8,773). -- Former World Series of Poker Champions who played in the main event included: T.A. Both were eliminated on Day 1-D. -- The second annual $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. championship was included on this year's schedule. Both winners from the previous two years busted out on Day One. Chip Reese and Freddy Deeb were eliminated from the main event. -- The oldest player ever to enter the WSOP in its 38-year history participated in this year's tournament as 94-year-old Jack Url, from Terre Haute, IN survived the first day, but was eliminated on Day Two. -- Michael Binger came very close to setting a new WSOP record for the "Most Cashes in a Single Year." He had eight in-the-money finishes this year. However, he busted out on Day Two of the main event, about 300 spots short of the money. He is tied for the record with Chris "Jesus" Ferguson (2003), Humberto Brenes (2006), and Phil Hellmuth (2006) – all with eight cashes in a single year. -- On Day 1-A, the first elimination of the 2007 WSOP took place when a player was dealt A-A and lost to another player with the A-K of clubs. Three clubs flopped making a flush, which meant the first casualty of the World Series went out just moments after the start of the tournament. -- A total of 621 places will receive prize money. What about the 600+ players will will be getting more than they would have in 2005? Instead of basically breaking even for cashing, people now double their money.
I think it is MUCH better this way. Bubble play will certainly be a lot more profitable for the skilled players... And besides, if you are winning 8+ million for first, is that REALLY any different than winning $10 million? No way... spread that extra $2 million out across the prize pool. |

I'm surprised Gold lasted 4 levels...thought he would only make it 2 levels MAX.
I've been following the reports and its been crazy...Scotty knocked out 5 people within one hour at one point in day 1. I'm kinda sad that the bill made it drop because I always like watching big fields with a huge amount of chips at the final table..even though now theres more than last year because they start with 20k, its all good.

But didn't the law make this happen? Since the law made the sites not able to directly allow the sites to register the players it indirectly affected the number of entrants because of the reason you stated above.

Feats of Strength It's perhaps a bit surprising that this sort of thing doesn't happen more often, but still -- the player at Table 24, Seat 3 moved all in with and was called by Jimmy Blevins holding . The flop gave both players a pair, but on the turn Blevins hit the to make trips. At which point the player facing elimination slammed his fist down on the table so hard that it made the chips on the table jump. And then, when the hit the river and he knew he'd been eliminated, he LIFTED THE ENTIRE TABLE UP OFF THE GROUND and sent the chips and cards scattering all over the place. The players were able to protect their chips to keep them from spilling into a great messy pile, and the player who lost the hand was quickly removed from the table. The security cameras caught the whole episode, and from what we've heard he's going to be paid out, and then escorted from the building. We're not mentioning his name because we want to make 300 percent sure we have the right name (the players at his table weren't sure) and we don't want to libel the innocent.
