Default learn PLO

then profit

for real, PLO is the NL of 2 years ago, so many ppl don't have a clue what they are doing. Trust me I'm about 50x better at NL, and plo has treated me very well recently. If you're any good at NL, you can grasp PLO pretty quickly, the basics at least

That's what I'm starting to do.

I have 6 PLO FT's over 30 something tournaments. It's super super super super soft.

Swings are too much for my tastes. The PLO games were ridiculously soft like a year ago when I started to play them somewhat seriously and I hit a huge heater even though I suck at the game.

I feel like I can have a winning month at NL 90% of the time, but in PLO it will probably be like 65% of the time, and then I'll just be miserable doing regular life activities during those losing months. You have said that money doesn't affect you though so congrats on that.

I'll probably start playing again if my hourly goes below $200 at NL.

2/4 most of the time. 5/10 when I feel I'm playing well, in a good mood. 1/2 when I just need to put hands in.

I'm usually playing 10 tables.

Will you be making SuperNova Elite this year? I've heard that is worth over $100k in bonuses alone - and obv more for guys like you who go ahead and go deep in the Main Event.

$200/hour is obv very good and more than most people make, but TP I think you could do that if you just put in more time or studied poker a little more. Most 2/4 solid regs can make 200 hour 10 tabling without much trouble. I know a guy who's hourly is right around $500 from no higher than 3/6 over the past 18 months. He's made over a million but just choses to keep grinding away at lower stakes to reduce variance.

I've played online for a pretty long time and could NEVER pull off profitable poker 10-tabling at any stakes.

ya i guess it's harder than i give it credit for or everyone would do it

I really can't even do it for long periods of time. I'm a winner doing it, but for about 3 days then I'm burnt out. I get real frustrated playing 16 tables of 2/4 feeling like I'm making 1000 decisions for a bunch of small pots, I'm much better 3 tabling higher stakes.

for real, PLO is the NL of 2 years ago

Let's see. How many times have I seen this or something like it written in some forum? Not enough fingers and toes to count.

For how long? I think I saw some version of this the first time I logged in to 2+2 8 years ago.

PLO was "the game of the future" then, it's "the game of the future" now, and it will be "the game of the future" in 10 years.

Yes, it is soft. But I doubt it will replace Hold'em as the dominant big-bet form anywhere in the near future. It's too much a gambler's game for the analytical, "poker's not gambling" fish, and the real fishy fish lose their rolls faster at PLO than in NLHE.

Edit: Players are beyond bad. Calling flop and turn bets with Ten high FDs and nothing else. Potting it with 44 on a QJ4 flop then when bet into on a 8 turn villain bets into them and they pot shove....uhhhh ok? bottom set is a great hand!!! calling with middle overpairs on small boards ex 774 boards with diamonds guy calls a pot bet with a naked 99.... etc etc....oh and my favorite reraising naked AA pre when you are fuckin over 100 BBs deep then potting it unimproved into 3 opponents, while never reraising T986 type hands or anything besides Aces. LMAO. Haven't played above 1/2 online yet so dunno how players are 2/4+ yet

Yeah it's quite amazing how bad the PLO cash game players online are. They are swingy though. I've only played about 2000 PLO hands or so and I'm down 10 bullets at $10PLO, which is definitely way below EV. But the potential is sweet.

I played a single table of 50PLO last night, expecting the play to be a little tougher than 10PLO, and it wasn't in the least bit. I'm really hoping to get in a decent sample size at 50PLO soon, and I'll report back with results.

The tournaments are just as soft. I'm holding a 300% ROI in PLO tournaments with about a 50 tourney sample size. PLO is a total goldmine, and I'm probably gonna be pouring a lot of time and effort into perfecting my PLO game, and then put in a large sample and see how I do.

I have been screwing around with small stakes PLO for a little over a year, so I am not claiming to be any type of reference. And I am sure that the games you are playing are different than the levels I play, but I don't think PLO is like NLHE two years ago or anything like that. I think it is more akin to LHE, which still is incredibly soft. Both LHE and PLO are swingy as hell and basically crack cocaine for all except those with good tilt control, they both are all about grinding smaller edges than in NLHE and pushing smaller equity advantages. It is just that PLO is a game you play for stacks as so it may take more hands (100Ks) to run to the norm.

edit to add-although PLO is great for tilting a good player and then profiting make Sklansky $$.
