Default League Idea...

I just had an idea for the league and I think it's a really good one. As it stands, we have 16 players x $10 = $160 in the prize pool.... PLUS $125 of added money.

Originally, I figured we'd just throw it all into the prize pool and distribute it to the Top 4 finishers, as follows:
1st - 40%
2nd - 30%
3rd - 20%
4th - 10%

But I have a better idea now: I think we should distribute the $160 as described above, but the added money ($125) should be battled for via a 10 player Tournament of Champions invite only freeroll. This would be for the Top TEN finishers in the league (which at is stands will be more than half the league). I think this will keep more people interested to the end, and since pretty much anyone will have a shot to get into the top ten own to the final event, it will ensure maximum attendance.

So, what do you guys think? I may go ahead and do this regardless, but I'll put it up to a vote anyway.

TOC! I don't think I'll ever see a WWdN TOC and this is even better!

I dont think the TOC is a good idea....the money that is added should be given to people who earn it.....if the top 9 players just get to get in a tourney and the 9th placed guy in the leauge wins he wins money he shoulda never had....also you will be wasting $x depending on the # of people that enter....thats giving money to pokerstars and they arent a part of the league at all

I agree. This makes sense. Giving people the option to vote in this poll, even if they aren't in the league does not.

Leave it how it was.

I didn't look to see if you were in the league or not. I was directing that comment to TP, because I don't think people shoul vote if they aren't in the league.

Chill, I agreed with you.

I don't understand this. I said 10, but yes, it would be 9 (Stars SNG size). These players DID earn the extra money though - by finishing in the top 9! By expanding the field to 9 players, there will be more people still interested in the league for the last few events, rather than thinking they are out of it and not playing any more.

And what are you talking about with this giving money to Poker Stars stuff? I don't follow that at all. This would be set up a freeroll for those who qualified. There would be no juice ofr Stars.

This is pretty much how the WSOP TOC works. Same principle. And I think it's great. It gives people something to shoot for...

I'll look at the votes and only count the ones from league members. That's easy enough.

Looks like the vote is 2:1 in favor of the TOC. I'll see if anyone else votes, examine them (giving more weight to League Members' votes), and make decision when I get back in town.

I still think it's a great idea, and can really only think of ONE potential drawback:

-What if one of the Top 4 finishers can't make the TOC, because of a schedule conflict? That would kinda suck. So I'll try my best to accomodate everyone when scheduling it.

With a 12:5 final vote, and with me loving the idea, I decided we are going to go ahead and have the Tournament of Champions. Since not everyone likes the idea though, I came up with a good compromise: $25 of the added money will go to the Top 4 league finishers, and the remaining $100 will go towards the TOC.

I updated the league thread with the details:

The TOC will take place at 9:30 PM on the Wednesday following the final league event - July 12, 2006. Mark your calendars for that one NOW, as you won't want to miss it!
