Default Matusow vs some dude

I watched the episode today at like noon so i think it was last nights episode. The hand I am talking about is at the end of the episode, around minute 50 or so. Anyhoo it was a family pot, all called BB (I believe). There was 1010(Matusow), KJo, 77, 78, and onemore hand. Flop comes KKJ rainbow. Matusow is first i believe and he checks, this guy bets 70k which was probably over half the pot I think. everyone folded to matusow who called. Turn comes 2 or something, matusow checks, other guy checks, river comes, matusow checks other guy bets 200k and after faking a bet (almost dropped chips in pot but pulled back, should have been reprimanded i think) calls. He says it was worst call of his life, but whatever. My question is, is this how you play it?

If you were heads up vs matusow(or anyone for that matter) and he had just made a couple of big calls and won a large pot earlier (you could tell he was on a high), would you play it this way or some ohter way?

Funny how he makes that horrible call but then tells them all that the kiddie game is down the street after he pulls off a bluff or two... classy guy.

That's part of his schtick.

As for how I would play it, I am assuming you mean from the non-Matusow side of things, right? If so, this is actually close to how I would have played it.

Against a random player, I would play it differently (and check the flop), but against Mike, I disagreed with what Norman Chad was saying and think they guy played it beautifully. Remember, Mike is capable of making a big bluff (even all in) with nothing IF he thinks you have nothing and will fold. And with this board, I have to think the best way to entice Mike to do that is to go ahead and fire at the flop.

I'd have to trust my read on the player, and from all aspects, the guy holding KJ was wayyyyyyyy to comfortable. Smiling, pleasant demeanor, no reaction to the bluff-call of Matusow. When a single J or K beats my hand, I muck.

Yeah, I meant none mike side of things. Do you think you could have gotten another bet out of him on the turn though, continue the show of strength?

Yeah, I know and I know you kind of like the guy... but that schtick is pretty lame after the cameras caught him balling like a little baby after he got knocked out last year. I think I'd have to bring up is little crying jag if he started to talk any of that crap to me.

Maybe... but I think I prefer the check.

Oh, and I would have tried to "act" just a bit more uncomfortable/quiet/still, to make it appear like it could be a bluff. I think the true goal here is to get him to put all his chips in drawing dead, which was a possibility on the flop (IMO).

It's not that I like him... I just don't DISlike him as much as everyone else. Sure, he can be annoying, but that's just who he is. Fight back. Bust his balls. Get him to blow up. There is a way to deal with all personalities at the poker table, including Matusow/Hellmuth, etc.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I don't want to butt heads with The Grinder or Ivey... Lederer would be next on my list - those three guys really intimidate me for some reason. Other than that, I'll take my chances with anyone. I'd LOVE to play with Hellmuth. Nothing would be better than setting him off, especially if it was by outplaying him.

I'm starting to like Reel Deal.

I'd have no problem talking shit on ESPN with him. I could take him.
