Default Important Heads Up (New Server)

I just wanted to let everyone know that we are going to be moving to a new server soon. No more of those annoying "Bad Gateways" and hopefully little to no downtime. All in all, we've been pretty good, but this will eliminate the potential for any more problems like we had a couple of months ago where the forum was GONE for a day.

Here's the tricky thing though: In order to move and keep the database synced properly, I'll need to lock it on the old server. I'll update the DNS to point to the new server immediately, but it may take anywhere from a few minutes to as long as 24 or even 48 hours for each of your ISPs to refresh their DNS and point you to the new server. If that doesn't make sense, don't worry about it. The point is, you may be stuck looking at the old server - with a locked forum - for a little while. There will be a big message at the top letting you know that's the case, and the problem will fix itself in a matter of time.

What I am looking into doing is setting up something like new.talkingpoker.com - this will point to the live database on the new server, so until your DNS is refreshed, you can just go there to hit up the site. This doesn't work yet, but it should once I set it up.

So.................. that's that. I'm not sure exactly when we'll be making the move, but I'll give you guys another heads up in this thread before it happens.

Did anyone have any problems? I had hoped to update this thread right before the move, but my server guy decided to make the move right after I went to bed last night. Everything seems fine today.

Is anyone still hitting the old server, and needing to use new.talkingpoker.com to get here?
