Default Vegas questions

I'm like 99% sure I'm playing the Main Event this year, but have two questions:

- Plane tickets -> the answer is probably depends...but is it better to buy one tickets and leave when you can, or do you buy a return and try to change the flights? If you buy last minute one way out of vegas, do the airfares costs increase a lot?

- Bank transfers -> how does this work? I just go to my bank and wire it over...and show up at the cage to collect?

Thanks.

Regarding Bank Transfers ...

For the WSOP entry itself, you can pre-register, and do a wire transfer of the entry fee. This is how we did for the event I played, and it went very smoothly.

If the goal is to get additional cash to Vegas, we brought old-fashioned travelers checks, which the cage cashed with no problem. If you wire money to the any given casino cage, they will want you to put those funds in play at their casino rather than just giving you the money to spend elsewhere.

Or just mail Pshabi a check.

Figure out when you want to leave if you bust out and buy a round trip. The RT ticket + flight change fee < 2 one way tix.

Also, buying 1 way tickets with cash is the best way to get on a list you don't want to be on.

Yeah, take your best guess and buy a round trip ticket. If you go deep, you won't care about changing your flight.

As for wiring money to the Rio, I called my bank from the airport on my way to Vegas and gave them the wire info. I went to the Rio that night and the cage had my money waiting for me. They will give it to you in cash or chips, but prefer to give you chips, of course. It's not like they MAKE you play through it or anything though. I took what I wanted for WSOP registrations in chips and took the rest in cash.

You can also take out as much or as little as you want at a time. Other than the time spent in line and at the window doing paperwork (not that bad), it's very, very convenient.

Thanks for the replies so far. I've checked, but it looks like pre-registration for the main event is over.

I couldn't find any details on the website, so do I just get the wiring info and get my bank to transfer the money over...show up to the cage and my money will magically appear?

It'll probably be a lot easier for me to bring a cashier's cheque over. Would the casinos take this? Who would I make it out to?

Yep, assuming you have a player's card from last year (you need your number for them to tie the $$ to your account). And FWIW, the wiring instructions I found online were incorrect. You'll want to call them, get to the main cage, and ask for wiring instructions.

No idea about the check.
