Default TPFHUC2 Forfeits...

Ok... here are the matches that haven't been completed by the deadline:

Penguinfan vs. bdawg
lightfungus vs. drewjax
MathBabe vs. junYUN
sjay2k vs. mrkoontz

We need to decide how to handle this. I could just forfeit all of those players and advance their Round 2 opponents to Round 3, but that seems silly to me. Chances are, one of these guys was harder to get ahold of than the other.

Let's take a look at these match by match:

1. Penguinfan forfeitted himself, but he and bdawg came up with a time to play tomorrow. Because they have a time scheduled, I'm ok with this, so unless they don't play tomorrow, we should have a winner.

2. I have no idea what drewjax and lightfungus' problem was. Both have been on regularly for the past 10 days and even scheduled matches a couple of times, yet no results have been posted. The latest match I saw from these two was supposed to be today at 1:00, but it doesn't look like it happened. I see drew overslept, but here were are 10 hours later, and no match. So..... I don't even know who to forfeit here.

3. junYUN couldn't get ahold of MathBabe for the first week or so, but then they finally scheduled a match for today. She hung around for a couple of hours, but he never showed up. I literally saw them both online at the same time at one point this afternoon, but once again, no results, nor a scheduled match time that I know of. Again, I'm not really sure who to forfeit.

4. sjay2k and mrkoontz had a match scheduled, but mrkoontz didn't show and even though he's been on as recently as today, sjay2k says he hasn't heard back from him, so I'm tempted to advance sjay.

So.... what should we do about this? We could:

-Forfeit everyone.
-Conduct polls to determine who advances.
-Give them more time, and let this drag on for as long as it takes.
-I'm not sure what else.

I suggested getting alternates (including people who have been eliminated already) to play these guys, but not a single person posted that they were interested (besides me).

So..... what do you guys think? I'm very open to suggestions, but here's what I'm leaning towards... Let's give these guys 48 more hours (midnight Tuesday night) to get these matches played. If they don't have them played by then, they can plead their cases in this thread as to who should advance. If only one person posts, he is the one to advance, obviously. If both make a good case, we take a vote.

Or, we could just forfeit them all and I'll take over for them all in Round 2. As I was typing that sentence, I meant it as a joke, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. It would be fun (for me), and I'd definitely make the time to play, so we wouldn't have any more of these problems. Plus, it's my money up for grabs... this would give me a chance to defend some of it.

Oh, and I apologize if I'm coming off as harsh or whatever in this. By no means do I intend to. It's just that putting it all together and running it (not to mention getting prizes and putting up cash from my pocket) is kind of a pain, and it astounds me that four groups of two people (most of whom are on here regularly) can't find 1 hour over 10 days that is available for both of them to play FREE poker with each other.

Thoughts? Anyone......?

I would lean toward forfeiting the matches where there's clearly 1 party that has fallen through (MathBabe and mrkoontz). Give Penguinfan and bdawg an extra day, but after that, forfeit Penguinfan, since he was originally the one that kept the match from happening. It's hard to tell what's going on with lightfungus and drewjax, so maybe give them another day, and then I don't know who you would forfeit. (I really don't want to play you).

I would beat you if I did though

I'm certain you would. Everyone here beats me every time.

I agree with the mrkoontz (and Penguinfan, only because he originally suggested it), but MathBabe was here today when their match was scheduled. That's makes up for not being around for the first week, IMO.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of forfeitting them all and me playing.

Instead of you playing everyone why not give people another chance who were already eliminated, I mean they at at least showed up for their matches and you can probably count on them to do so again, but I would put a very restriced time frame on it.

As for me and Dawg, I am hoping it happens today, but our schedules were just way too conflicting before this and if I get bumped out, so be it.

Did not know people could get a second shot. I think you should do that. Take the first round eliminated people and put them in a hat, and draw to see who gets a second chance. Either that, or there were alternates right?

Yes, there were alternates, but none of them have logged in in weeks, so getting in touch wth them seems kinda pointless. I posted in the main HUC thread asking about hat to do, suggesting giving people a second shot (drawing names), etc.... no one replied that they were interested.

Apparently I forgot to add this match to the list:
nutbag vs. eejit101

eejit has been gone for the entire contest so far, so I'm forfeitting him. nutbag - it's up to you. You can just move on to Round 2 if you want, or else you can play me (or anyone else who speaks up and wants to play you), so long as the match happens tonight or tomorrow.

Penguinfan and bdawg played today, and MathBabe and junYUN will be playing tomorrow. So that only leaves:
lightfungus vs. drewjax
sjay2k vs. mrkoontz
Hopefully both matches will happen in the next 24 hours or so... Otherwise, I think I've decided the best thing to do is just forfeit everyone (baring one of those participants convincing us he deserves to move on) and I'll play the Round 2 opponents myself. That way, I'm relying on myself only, and with my money on the line here, I'll make the time to get these matches in. With that said, I'm going out of town for the weekend on Thursday afternoon sometime, but I'll be sure to keep all of Wednesday open for my potential opponents.

Here's hoping these guys play their matches tonight or tomorrow.

Forfeits = losses, I guess. Replacement players wins get points for the people they are replacing.

If an entire match is cancelled, no one gets points for it.

That's the only fair thing I can think of. If people are really against this and would rather extend the rounds indefinitely, that's ok with me too... I just figure that it's not fair to the guys who have played to have to wait around any longer for their Round 2 opponents.
