Default You're the Floor

Not sure how much feedback Im gunna get here since next to no one here actively plays live, but what the hell...

How would the following situations be handled?

Situation 1: (actual situation)

Flop is 4 handed. Player 1 Bets $100, Player 2 folds, Player 4 Calls out of turn, not seeing Player 3 is still in. Dealer instructs Player 4 that Player 3 has not acted yet and to take his call back. He does. Player 3 calls...

Is Player 4's Call Binding, or does he have a full range of options (Fold Call or Raise)

Situation 2: (hypothetical argument brought up at the table during the floor decision making)

Same deal, except in this case Player 4 Raises to $300 out of turn instead of calling His bet is returned and now Player 3 Calls. Is the raise binding or does he get a full range of options (Fold Call Raise)?

If the answer to situation 1 is different than situation 2 , please explain why

I've been playing live LHE for a few months exclusively. Just too lazy to post much about it. Anyway:

#1) I don't believe player 4's out of turn call is binding here. If player 3 folded it would be AFAIK. But with player 3 calling, I think he's got full range of options in this situation.

#2) Same

I'm pretty sure these decisions depend on each casino and what rules they follow.

In general, I believe:

1) Call is binding. He/She can not raise or fold. The only way his action is changed is if player 3 raises...then player 4 has all the available options.

2) Same deal. Raise is binding unless player 3 raises. Then player 4 would full action available.

I believe the floor would just tell player 3 to act...then tell all players of the floor ruling....to not give player 3 additional advantage.

1. I would say the call is binding. If player 3 calls or folds, player 4 can only call. If player 3 raises, player 4 can fold or call only.

2. Her I would say the same. The raise made by player 4 is binding and is the only move they can make unless player 3 raises. If player 3 raises, player 4 may call or fold (regardless of the size of the raise)

post flop, all players have full range of options. (Made me think of this...)

Actions made out of turn are not binding in any casino I've played in.

Player 4 has fall his options in both cases.

poker needs a rule book... esp if it wants to be categorized as a sport...

"Poker" is not a living entity. It is incapable of "wanting" to be anything.

Besides, every venue already has written rules. Perhaps what you meant to say was, "Poker needs a central governing body."

OTOH, it's not like all sports have one set of rules or governing body. Take golf. The USGA, PGA and R&A all have differences in some rules.

Oh, one other thing. Poker is not a sport. "Sports" by definition require some form of complex physical motor skill. Poker does not (chip tricks don't count).

Yes. That's what I interpreted to get to my (and Kurn's) answer to Zy's question. Now I will invoke the golden rule of talkingpoker. If you answer a question and Kurn agrees with your answer, then you are correct and the thread should be locked!

I *think*:

-The situations are ruled the same.

-Player 4's call (or raise) is binding if Player 3 folds (in other words, what he "thought" happened when he acted out of turn). If player 3 does anything but fold, I believe he has a full range of options.

Giving a natural-born bullshitter like me that much power, is clearly over the top.
