Default June Contest...

The old posts for this topic can be found here:

Contest Description
Everyone who participates will start with exactly $25. You are free to do with it what you choose, but the contest will go on until someone has turned that $25 into $500. The winner will be determined by how many hands it takes (not the amount of time) to accomplish this task. You are free to play any limit of any poker game. The only thing you must do is keep track of the number of hands you play. If you decide to play in tourneys, each tournament hand counts as a hand played.

You can sit down with any amount up to your exact total ($25 to start). Obviously, everyone will need to keep their own records. This will be done on the honor system. You must post in this thread whenever you start and stop each session you are counting towards this contest. Your posts should show your starting and ending bankrolls and your total hands played. If and when you bust out (I think most of us will bust out before hitting $500), post your total hands played. Here is an example of a couple of posts (please try to use this format):

-----
Starting Session 1
Current Bankroll: $25
Total Hands Played: 0
Party Poker $25 NL Table 12345
Sitting down with $25
-----
and then later on in a new post...
-----
Ending Session 1
Current Bankroll: $43.50
Total Hands Played: 122
-----
and then some other time:
-----
Starting Session 2
Current Bankroll: $43.50
Total Hands Played: 122
Poker Stars $1/$2 limit Table 6789
Sitting down with $25

-----
and then:
-----
Ending Session 2
Current Bankroll: $21.50
Total Hands Played: 314
-----
and so on.

Get it?

If you reload at all during your session (say your bankroll was $43.50 and you only sat with $25, as in the example above, you would still have up to $18.50 to reload with), just post when you do. That way, no one will suspect anyone of any funny business.

Lastly, if you bust out, that doesn't mean you are out of the contest! You may still play in freerolls to try to rebuild your bankroll (in theory, someone could never touch their initial $25 and could play entirely in freerolls!). Be sure to post in this thread before starting any freerolls you play in and keep track of your hand count.

Rules

1. The contest begins on June 1, 2005 at 12:00 AM and runs until June 30th 11:59 PM. You may start any time in the month of June, but we'll declare our winner at the end of the month. Remember, just because someone gets to $500 doesn't mean the contest is over... someone else could still get there in fewer hands.

2. Participation is voluntary, of course, and open to all. There is no entry fee. You simply need to post in this thread while you play.

3. We'll be using the honor system and scoring ourselves. Be honest. Don't cheat. That's stupid.

4. Your starting bankroll is $25. You may never sit down with more than your current bankroll, but you may sit with less if you want to.

5. If everyone busts out, the winner will be the person who lasted the most hands before getting broke the first time (in case someone plays freerolls afterwards and makes a comeback). Maybe a microlimiter will take this down after all.

6. I reserve the right to change the rules at any time, as I see fit. This whole thing may spin out of control.... On the other hand, if no one is interested, I'll pull the plug and kill the contest early.

Bonus: If we have at least 10 participants, if things go smoothly and without controversy, and if the winner has at least 250 total posts by the end of the contest, I will award him with the of his choice, costing up to as much as the starting bankroll amount ($25).

Have fun!

Default Wow

One thing I'm noticing already...

I SO do not have the patience for a single table of $25 NL. And this is way above where I should be palying with my $25 roll.

Maybe we should give everyone two cracks at this. If they bust out once, they can rebuy for another $25........ Just a thought. Probably not a good idea though, so forget I mentioned it.

I'll try to be patient.

Mid-session update:
11 Hands Played
$22.60 Bankroll

Wooohooo - I'm in last place!

My Session 1 Update:

This $25 NL game is harder to beat than I thought it would be. The players here make a lot of "strange" plays, to say the least.

In any case, I dropped all the way down to just under $10 before tripling up with AA. I thought that hand was going to be it for me, but I have new life. I'm sitting at $27.40 now - above $25 for the first time in 77 hands.

Damn, sorry TP, with all my talk of low limit grinding I beat you to it. I lose first. I should not have brought the other $10 to .25/.50. Should have stepped it down, but I was at a good table, just missing one thing.....THE CARDS.

Oh well, good luck to everyone who didn't stay up late to lose $25 in less than 1 1/2 hours

BTW
I lost in 86 hands if there is a prize for the LEAST hands played.

My low for the session was about $9. That's when I tripled up with AA. My high was a little over $38, after doubling up with a nut flush and some guy reraising me on the river. I'm quitting now, a few hands after that.

Overall, I'm happy with where I finished up this first session.

GL everyone!

Hey BB, how hard is it to count the session hands on Paradise? I'm thinking that would be a good place for me to do it if I do, since I'm under $100 there anyway in total.

In the upper left of the table view, there is a % sign. that turns on the session stats that will count hands.

Good Luck

Son of a bitch....
If you are multitabling at Stars... BOTH tables are included in the Stats...
I'll have to pull up pokertracker to find out what my number of hands are...

Just a warning for you guys.

I think we should all have our own thread for these.

This particular thread is going to get out of hand if enough people decide to take part.

Ah yes... my favorite move in poker. I guess he had two low diamonds (23? 26?) and didn't want to risk you checking behind him and seeing the crap he was playing.

We can deal with that when the time comes. I could make an entire new section for them, even... but the way I see it, why not keep all the clutter in one thread? That way, the people who are interested can see what's going on by browsing through just one thread and the people who aren't don't have to skip over lots of threads - they can avoid just this one.

Yeah... let's keep it just this one thread.

When we bust out, can we play a freeroll to try to get back in it (counting the hands of course)? Just for fun at least, I need a challenge ....starting with $0 and turning it into $500 in a month, sounds like a blast.

Great idea! Absolutely. I'll ammend the rules.

Just post in this thread prior to starting the freeroll and keep track of your hand count, of course.

Default I find this contest strangely addictive...

Last night, I thought I was going to go crazy playing at these limits, but the challenge of this whole thing is sucking me in.

Starting Session 2
Current Bankroll: $36.05
Total Hands Played: 141
Empire Poker $25 NL Table 37130
Sitting down with $25 ($11.05 in reserve)

Reloading $10 more. $1.05 in reserve now.

These guys are so bad, but I can not get a hand. It's driving me crazy. I can't wait to double up.

Aaaarrrrgggggghhhhhhh!

I can't take it!

The few flops I don't completely miss, I get sucked out on by some dork hitting his miracle. I just flopped a set of twos (Q42 rainbow flop) and lost to running cards making my favorite hand to lose to - none other than the wheel.

Mid session Update:
$16.45 left on the table right now.
69 hands played this session.
