Well, it's about time! Let me officially rewelcome you to the forum...

We still have a few spots open for this. Anyone? Anyone? Surely all the regulars have had a chance to sign up by now, so if anyone has any friends they'd like to tell about this, by all means, feel free.

I think there should be a seperate thread under "railbird me" for all of these matches. People could post their agreed-upon scheduled times, etc.

Also, I think TP's matches per elimination will do just fine. And heck with the money--I just want one of those hats.

I was wondering when something weird like this would happen.

You do realize this is free, right Brian? If you are SURE you won't be playing poker the first week in August, I guess it's better for you to back out now than forfeit to whomever you are matched up with then. But otherwise, I just don't get it...

Always with the drama...

Sadly, still TBD. We may start a couple of days late, but I'm going to do my best to get us underway on 8/1. We could still use a few more players...

Well, if we don't have enough participants, a lot of guys with a lot of posts (like me) are going to get "byes." Personally, I think being unfair to one guy (the guy you *might* forfeit to) would be better than being unfair to a whole bunch of people (the guys with lower post counts who don't get the byes).

But to each their own.

ok I will play but will have to give me advance ahead of time of the game and I might have to reschedule at the last second. I really think you should look into bugsys club it is really easy to get into free heads up games. Wouldnt want to give you a bye TP, need to earn you're way to top there buddie.

Welcome back. If we get to 33+ people, you'll be the first to get cut, ok?

BTW... I know you've played at Jet Set, Poker Host, and Absolute. Which of those would you recommend? Which will allow you to set up Play Money Heads Up tourneys without special privleges?

I wouldnt suggest pokerhost just because there customer support seems terrible. The other forum I'am part of is having their HU torney at jetset, their customer support is amazing so it might be the easiest to set up but dont think you can play free without getting with customer suport.

Honestly Bugsys Club is the best bet, you can set up games easy. There are 3-4 heads up games open all the time. Should be easy to get 2 people into a game very easy.

I don't think any of them let individual players set up [private] matches....

PokerHost has play money ones and the traffic is low enough where it is not to hard to get in one with someone else (IM helps)

Absolute....do they even have heads up tournament matches?

JetSet....Brian is the resident JetSet expert....

If we are doing it like that Bugsy's (PokerPages) has a much better structure than any of these (10,000 chips to start, slow blinds, etc). If you can get some site to put up a prize, or to let us set up the matches to be password protected or something, then that would be cool though.

Jetset you can do this but not sure if you can set up free ones. The other forum im in is doing $2.75 HU matches. Im sure you can talk to support and set something up but like BB just said I think Bugsys is our best bet.

If you have to pay for each match the fees would be rediculous for everyone.

well they have a prize pool of $5 each from all players. I dont suggest this because alot of people wouldnt play because they are broke. I like the free idea, I vote bugsys. The fees arnt bad though at jetset.

Wherever we play, it's going to be free. I talked about this with people directly in Vegas and they were all very supportive and interested. Now that I'm home though and communicating with the sites via email, things are progressing a lot more slowly.

Poker Host was super interested in Vegas. They haven't even approved my affiliate application yet though (it's been a long time too), so they are about to be crossed off the list.

JetSet seemed interested, but talks have kinda stalled. Absolute has a very friendly affiliate department and they put me in touch with their tourney guy, but again, they are being slow to respond.

If nothng works out, I guess we can just do it at Bugsy's, but I was really hoping for a little special treatment. It would be good for us (a little extraprize money) and good for the poker site (loads of new potential player). We'll see...

This surprises me, and seems remarkably short-sighted on the part of the smaller poker sites. Combine all of our play, and I’m sure we collectively generate a lot of rake. Why wouldn’t a site be bending over backwards to market to a core group of serious online players? That’s got have a better ROI than buying an add in Bluff Magazine, or a lot of the other marketing efforts these guys are doing.

You would think, wouldn't you?

Anyhoo, I'm officially making the sign-up deadline 11:59PM ET on July 30th (this post has been around plenty long enough), so those of you who are considering it and still haven't signed up, now is the time. Again, this is a free month long tournament and all are welcome.

On he 31st, I'll figure out all the details, randomly draw up the brackets and post everything. HOPEFULLY the site we will be playing on will be finalized by then too...
