I played in two of the "added on" events. $1000 each. No bracelets.

The first one was oh-so-much-fun. 20 minutes into the tourney and the jackass to my right finally shows up. He sits down and is immediately bitching about not having enough leg room. Keep in mind, I'm 6'5" and this is when we played at Binions, and not at the Rio. It was tight. He proceeds to raise toe 175 (25/50 blinds) for his first three hands, picking up the blinds. On hand #4, he does it again from the button, and I repop him from the SB with KK. He reraises, and I decide to just call. The flop comes 662, and I check raise him all in. He calls and flips up AA, and I'm out. 25 minutes.

Yeah, that sucked.

I did much better the next day, including laying down a flopped set of 6s face up on the table to all sorts of banter from the rest of the table (no straight or flushes - I had like the 3rd nuts)... until my opponent showed his flopped set of Aces. That may be the only time I've ever laid down a set in a spot like that, and to this day, I say that's the best laydown I ever made.

According to the WSOP web site, the Rio (or some of their sister properties?) have rooms for as low as like $60 or $75 per night for pre-registered poker players. I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm staying with local friends for the first 3 nights I'm there, and then I have a time share 7 miles south of the strip for the following week.

The side events may just got a whole lot more action. Looks like Pokerstars is now awarding seat winners with $10,000 cash for qualifiers and asking them to register themselves for the event. Also doesn't look like they can arrange hotel accomendations for players.

I'll be there for the whole series(have a house rented). I planning to play 9 or so events provided that I raise enough money from backers. I have like 8k commited from backers now so I should get there.

1. I'd definitely like to meet up with you.
2. I'd be happy to swap a few %s with you in events we are both if if you are interested.
3. I'd be interested in contributing to your backing too. But let's hold off on that until after the FTOPS and see just how much money I'm going to be able to say "Let It Ride!" to.

I'm game. I'll wait to figure out the final numbers (depends how many people I'm swapping with), but I think 2% is a good number...

Room booked at Harrahs, I'll be there from the 1st till the 4th for sure. I may fly in one day earlier and crash on the floor of my buddy's room at Riviera, he'll be down till Sunday playing in a North American pool tournament finals. Still waiting to buy into event #3 until Stars emails me back with the process to register using my W$.

I had planned on trying to qualify for the main event, but I'm definitely not playing that even if I win a seat for it. 10k is just way to much to drop on a donkament when I can run with the 11k cash instead. $1500 is still out of my bankroll, but I'm using that as an excuse to take a much needed vacation. Im fucking pumped right now. Can't wait to meet you guys down there.

My wife is having pitty on me for the obvious envy I feel toward everyone who is going down for the WSOP. She suggested that we go next year.

T-Minus 13 months for me!

all my vacation time got used earlier this year so im a no go also, my mom has a time share and is switching it next year to vegas so I can go. So that means

flight to vegas- $0
place to stay - $0
the braclet im winning - priceless!

only problem is the time share has to be put in now so im planning mid june and I hope there will be a event I like during that time.

I have a similar issue actually. My time off each year is non-negotiable, so I have to wait to see the 2008 schedule before I know if I can play an event. 2006 would have been good for me, but this year would not have been possible even if I could find the cash.

with my vacation I have to "block" a single week at beginning of the year but the rest of the time I can take as DAT (day at a time) days. So the schedule dosent really bother me at all. Most of the events are in June and July so just take a week at end of June or beginning of July and you should be able to find at least one event that would work in that week.

I thought you had set aside money for the WSOP this year and you and that SWApartner of yours were gonna tear up the WSOP... TeamSWA Crew or something.

I guess that plan is out now?

Bummer. I was actually looking forward to meeting you and seeing what you are like in real life (seriously).

P.S. I got my time share exchanged about 2 weeks ago, if that... whenever I started this thead, actually.

life happens, the buy-ins are no problem, it is the vacation time that got blown through. As for tearing it up....no im just there to have fun and maybe get lucky enough to cash. As for Chuck, dont know if he is going, I know he is going to A.C. this month I think for Borgata $500. I also would like to meet you (also serious).

Dont know if we will be down same time next year, but im 100% going to be there.

I went ahead and registered outside of Poker Stars. I suppose I could have saved some cash and registered for Event #3 with W$, but doesn't that tie you into a contract with them, force you to wear exclusively Stars gear, and so on? Meh - no thanks.

I'm totally with you for the Main Event thing, btw. I mean, it really is something and I'm glad I played in it last year, but if you give me the option of taking $11k cash to do with whatever I please instead, I just can't justify ponying up that kind of money on ONE poker tourney. I'd rather spend $4k in side events, $2k on TEN $200 events on Stars, and still have $5k left over to do whatever I want with (like other satellites, for example). I'm just making up numbers, but you get the point.

A night far enough ahead so we can go out and drink and still be ready for the first day.I too am excited to put some faces and real names to the peeps here.So when you see fit start a new thread and lets make some $!!!!!!!!!

Agreed... since Mayhem may only be there a few days, I say we plan something for Friday night, maybe. I know that's the night before Event #3, which I think we are all playing in, but we can certainly meet up for dinner/drinks whatever. What do you guys think?

Friday sounds good to me. Thursday is gonna be ridiculous tho, meeting up with my buddy down there and getting ridiculous, probably wont sleep, so dinner and drinks Friday nite then calling it quits by midnite at the latest would probably be best. If I bust out on Saturday of course I'll be in for whatever goes down that nite too, but lets just say I'm not planning on doing that.

Meh they get to use your name and likeness I guess, but I dont care, and I dont mind wearing a stars shirt. Ill just wear the T-shirt with a hoodie overtop and my ballcap. That way I can put the ~200 im saving towards hotel and flight, because I'm slightly over the 500 they gave me to go towards that anyway.
