I think I played this okay. My question is, can anyone tell me what drugs this guy is on?

Villian (Buschteer) has VPIP 60%, PFR 50%, total aggression 8. I kid you not.

For the first hand, I don't like your raise on the river. That Ace did not improve your hand (unless you put your opponent on something like 76, but I doubt you did that). I understand that this guy was a lunatic, but still...

For the second hand, capping wiht KQo from MP at a full table? I don't think that's a good idea. Oh, and I don't like your river cap either.

Now that that's out of the way.... um............ I dunno......... Speed?

MB,

Against a player like this in hand 1, I think you have to approach it like this:

When I flop the ace, I'm making a decision how many bets I want to get in on the big streets before showing down. Simple as that. You're going to get as many bets in as you want against this guy, so just decide what that should be and make it happen.

These guys are tough to play against, and if they happen to pick up a few big hands against you, they'll really have you guessing. If he's shown a pattern of going cap crazy with absolutely nothing, I would've played it like this:

Preflop and flop - the same
Turn - raise, call a 3-bet
River - This is most definitely not my STANDARD LINE, but against THIS OPPONENT, I raise this river and call a 3-bet. This is only if I've seen him going crazy like this prior.

Now, if the stats you have are from AFTER the session and this was 5 hands in, that's a different story. I would just call this river, as TP suggested, against an unknown.

Yeah, I'm aware that I played it OKAY, but certainly not PERFECTLY, or even anywhere near GOOD.

I actually thought he might have a smallish pair, possibly one giving him a set. I'd previously seen him re-raise with pocket 9's when the flop came AK6. I was willing to pay to see whether he had 88 or 77, even if the 77 beat me.

Does the Ace on the river not improve my hand because at the same time as I have three OAK, his set could have just turned into a full house?

For the second hand, I agree capping pre-flop was a mistake, although I didn't see it until now. Capping on the river - which pshabi pointed out as well - I knew immediately was a mistake, even before he showed his flush.

Don't get me wrong.... I was never suggesting folding. I was just suggesting saving a few bets for the times that you are beat, like if he in fact had the 77 you put him on.

I'm not sure I know what "OAK" means... but the Ace on the river didn't improve your hand, because, well, it didn't. If you were outkicked to a bigger Ace, you atill are. If you were up against a set, you are still losing. If he had a straight or a flush (not for this particular hand, but the idea in general), you are still losing. In other words, the only way this Ace helped you is if he had 2 pair without an Ace (67, 69, 79), and you now made trips to beat him. Think about it. Anything else he could be holding, you're either still ahead or still behind.

Ah, "three "Of A Kind" - I get it. Yeah, just call that "trips."
