Default Check this out..

A little background. You can read the whole story at my blog. I was playing an MTT freerolll and a guy I know (Geek) was playing 25/NL, so I decide to play a little with him and this is what happens:

***** Hand History for Game 1897084495 *****
$25 NL Hold'em - Friday, April 15, 01:29:24 EDT 2005
Table Table 37600 (Real Money)
Seat 8 is the button
Total number of players : 9
Seat 3: MikeD006 ( $47.7 )
Seat 6: Poker Medicine ( $31.25 )
Seat 7: Geek ( $36.9 )
Seat 4: FWALGMan ( $55.05 )
bosco posts small blind [$0.1].
tjesser posts big blind [$0.25].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to FWALGMan [ Kc Ad ]
Pablo_Shiraz calls [$0.25].
MikeD006 folds.
FWALGMan raises [$1].
JJTaylor3 folds.
Poker Medicine folds.
Geek raises [$3].
ReboAndZooti folds.
katoandbosco folds.
tjesser folds.
Pablo_Shiraz calls [$2.75].
FWALGMan calls [$2].

So far so good. He raised a bit. I guess I am so used to 100/NL that this did not seem like a big raise to me. Ha! Hey, when your down in the 25/NL pit playing with people it gets really hard to take some things seriously.

** Dealing Flop ** [ 8c, Qc, Jd ]
Pablo_Shiraz checks.
FWALGMan checks.
Geek bets [$9].
Pablo_Shiraz folds.
FWALGMan calls [$9].

Now here is where I paused for a second. I had Geek on one AIM and Poker Medicine on the other.

[01:30] FWA LGman: watch me suckout on geek
[01:30] PokerMedicine: lol
[01:31] PokerMedicine: oh god

Little did I know how true these words would ring..

** Dealing Turn ** [ 5c ]
FWALGMan checks.
Geek is all-In.
FWALGMan: i gotta call ya
FWALGMan calls [$24.9].

So my hand has improved from a straight draw to a straight and flush draw. I know. I have no odds. I suck. I just did not feel like laying down this hand to a measly $24.90 bet. It is so hard to adjust to playing lower limits.

** Dealing River ** [ 3c ]
FWALGMan shows [ Kc, Ad ] a flush, king high.
Geek shows [ Jh, Js ] three of a kind, jacks.
FWALGMan wins $74.15 from the main pot with a flush, king high.

Just for some perspective: .

LMAO!

Anyway it just goes to show how dangerous you can be when you do not care about the chips!

You know how badly you played it.... so there's nothing to say. It's a REALLY bad habit to not care about your $$ when you are playing at lower limits, but you know this too

hey question for you, pretend your other guy for minute he bet $24 when the flush draw made it. This seems kinda dumb to me, I would think you would want to check-call in this situation. What would you do?

Brian, the Geek bet $24 before the flush hit. He had every right to get his money in with trips against a draw. Why give up a free draw? Do this 10 times, you'll make a large profit.

alright I missread the HH then, thought he bet the $24 on the turn when the flush hit. I do totally agree that putting all your money in with trips is the obvious best play.

Default I hate to say this..

Geoff: I played this badly. Was having some fun.. but anyways, I hate to say this, Brian is right. Lets say you did not know what my hand was. The geek waited until a flush was ON THE BOARD to GO ALL IN. He also played sub-optimally. I have seen people do this many times. If your going to slowplay your trips, you must slow down when the only card that would make sense for me to be calling a nine dollar raise shows up. I would say Geek should have put a smaller bet in on the turn, and then check-folded the river if he doesnt pair up. I was however talking about my play.

I also have to say, sometimes, I play the 25/NL level to blow off some steam. This talks to TP's point. Normally when I am playing I do the 100-200/NL level. Small stakes for some here. However it is a decent part of my bankroll and there is always pressure to play well, and beat some decent players. When I go down to the 25/NL level I can unleash my demons! I am a f*ing suckout chaser! At least by nature. I want to gambool! I am not going to do it as part of my "livelyhood", or my primary bankroll, but when my entire stack (25) represents 1/3 of a pre-flop raise in 200/NL I am going to have some fun!!!!! I am going to be ramming and jamming, and sucking out, and bluffing my ass off. It is a real stress releiver for me. Anyway, I know it is mean to pick on the 25/NL guys but thats my story and I am sticking to it.

Default No your right!

No, you read it right, there were three clubs on the table when he went all in on the turn. For all he knew I had the A high flush at that point.

I'm too lazy to read your post LOL, and that probably explains why I suck at hold-em.

Anytime.

The only trip As I'll play is with a 2 or 3 and 1 A has to be suited .

And it would be both fun and educational .

Yup... this was a pretty bad play, IMO. I guess he (correctly) felt Sir was still on the draw and wanted to make him pay to hit it. Even if someone already has the flush, he has outs to a full house.... but yes, I would have slowed down when that third club hit the board.

hey I know what you are saying but that is when you get into alot of trouble. I lost my 2 grand doing that, going to lower levels and not playing smart then moving back up with those bad habbits and losing. I belive that is what TP was pretty much saying that gotta play the same game and make the hard lay-downs or in your case easy ones no matter what level your playing at.

I know I have no room to talk because obviously I dont take my own advice but thats just how I see it.
