Default July Contest #2 - Bankroll Building is Back!

I think this was a success in , so let's do it again in July! This time, instead of going from $25 to $500, let's change the limits to $100 to $1000. I think this will be a lot easier to accomplish, so maybe someone will actually make it all the way this month. For those of you that don't have $100 in your bankroll... no worries, start with $50 (or whatever). If you do, you'll always have an imaginary $50 in reeserve, so really, you'll only need to get your $50 bankroll up to $950. I guess it's more of a "make $900 profit starting with no more than $100" contest than it is a "Turn $100 into $1000" contest. Make sense?

Here are the rules:

Contest Description
Everyone who participates will start with exactly $100. You are free to do with it what you choose, but the contest will go on until someone has turned that $100 into $1000. The winner will be determined by how many hands it takes (not the amount of time) to accomplish this task, so the contest won't end until July 31, at 11:59 PM. You are free to play any limit of any poker game. The only thing you must do is keep track of the number of hands you play. If you decide to play in tourneys, each tournament hand counts as a hand played.

You can sit down with any amount up to your exact total ($100 to start). Obviously, everyone will need to keep their own records. This will be done on the honor system. You must post in this thread whenever you start and stop each session you are counting towards this contest. Your posts should show your starting and ending bankrolls and your total hands played. If and when you bust out, post your total hands played. Here is an example of a couple of posts (please try to use this format):

-----
Starting Session 1
Current Bankroll: $100
Total Hands Played: 0
Party Poker $25 NL Table 12345
Sitting down with $25
-----
and then later on in a new post...
-----
Ending Session 1
Session Results: Won $18.50
Hands Played: 122
Current Bankroll: $118.50
Total Hands Played: 122
-----
and then some other time:
-----
Starting Session 2
Current Bankroll: $118.50
Total Hands Played: 122
Poker Stars $.50/$1 limit Table 67890
Sitting down with $50
-----
and then:
-----
Ending Session 2
Session Results: Lost $20
Hands Played: 192
Current Bankroll: $98.50
Total Hands Played: 314
-----
and so on.

Get it?

If you reload at all during your session (say your bankroll was $118.50 and you only sat with $50, as in the example above, you would still have up to $18.50 to reload with), just post when you do. That way, no one will suspect anyone of any funny business.

Lastly, if you bust out, that doesn't mean you are out of the contest! You may still play in freerolls (completely free ones that anyone can join without using points, etc) to try to rebuild your bankroll. In theory, someone could never touch their initial $100 and could play entirely in freerolls and win the contest! Be sure to post in this thread before starting any freerolls/tourneys you play in and keep track of your hand count.

Rules

1. The contest begins right now and runs until July 31st, 2005 at 11:59 PM ET. If you are in the middle of a tourney (not a cash game) at 11:59 PM on July 31st, you are allowed to finish the tourney before ending your session. The contest will officialy end when all active sessions are wrapped up. You may start any time in the month of July, but we'll declare our winner at the end of the month. Remember, just because someone gets to $1000 doesn't mean the contest is over... someone else could still get there in fewer hands.

2. Participation is voluntary, of course, and open to all. There is no entry fee. You simply need to post in this thread while you play, as described above.

3. We'll be using the honor system and scoring ourselves. Be honest. Don't cheat. That's stupid. I reserve the right to request your recent Hand Histories (when possible) to settle any disputes, but hopefully I won't have to.

4. Your starting bankroll is $100. You may never sit down with more than your current bankroll, but you may sit with less at any time.

5. If everyone busts out, the winner will be the person with the highest bankroll when the contest period ends. If no one has a bankroll higher than the initial $100, the winner will be the person who lasted the most hands before getting broke the first time (in case someone plays freerolls afterwards and makes a comeback).

6. I reserve the right to change the rules at any time, as I see fit, but I promise I will be fair about it if I do. This whole thing may spin out of control.... On the other hand, if no one is interested, I'll pull the plug and kill the contest early.

Bonus: If we have at least 10 participants, if things go smoothly and without controversy, and if the winner has at least 300 total posts by the end of the contest, I will award him with an additional $25 cash, transferred to his account..

Have fun!

well i couldnt help myself had to join you all im starting with a $62.50 bankroll

session #1
table: exuma
sitting with $2 NL
site: paradise poker
name: stormswa

this site only counts hand where you are dealt cards, If you sit out it dosent count those hands so Im gonna add 10 hands to my count each sitting since I sit out to smoke one and awhile. $12.50 of my starting bankroll is pending so really whole bankroll is $50 to start.

I believe the "%" in the upper left corner will give you the full count of hands you were dealt in. If you aren't dealt in then you don't need to count those hands.

I tried to subtract from the other table I was playing but then went back and counted manually. I have the whole sessions HH saved in case it's needed.

Ouch. Glad you were able to ride it out and get it back... shame you couldn't quite hang in there. This is a fine example of variance and why it's so important to play within our (real life) bankrolls.

You just lost and then won back more than 60 BBs in a single session.
