Default HH Converter test thread...

de-coder is in the process of for us. I'm setting up this thread for him to do any output testing he'd like to do.

Also, feel free to give any suggestions you might have about what you would like to see for the output of the converted HH. Literally copy and paste and rearrange things as you think they woul look best. If enough people give input, we should be able to come up with something really nice.

Looks like there are some errors (bet amounts not showing, post sizes incorrect), but I think this is a good start.

Thoughts on the formatting? I'd like to see the Pot Size listed more subtly - probably in () like so:

MP4 raises to $400 ($1000)
or even
MP4 raises to $400 ($1000)

Also, Here should definitely be referred to as Hero throughout the hand. So, if he's in the BB, there won't be any BB references once the hand starts - only HERO.

I'd prefer for HERO to remain in CAPS and red, but I don't like the larger size. My

I'd also vote to have the Section lines (Flop/Turn/etc) in bold, but again, the same size as everything else. Same for Hero's cards. Oh, and I'd lost the "Players" line - we know they are players.

Those are just a few suggestions off the top of my head. Hopefully someone else will have something to contribute to this thread.... otherwise, I guess we'll just make it however you and I want it to look.

BTW - I am perfectly capable of modifying the formatting (output) myself... I haven't though, since you asked me not to touch the code.

Oh, one more thing - to help distinguish between tourneys and cash games, use $ for cash games but T$ for tourneys. It might be a good to include more of the header info too - not necessarily the Hand Number, but at least the tourney buy in and level... that sort of thing.

Separate the flop turn and river actions into separate paragraphs.

Would anyone think it better if each players action went from left to right instead of top to bottm. There is a lot of scrolling down with these HHs. I'm thinking make it similar to this .
I definitely wish these were more compact.

I think that each street's action going horizontal would be easier to read (aka the way most other forum's hand history converters already are).

I actually prefer the top to bottom... It's easier for me to quickly see each action like that. But I'm game for whatever most people like, and I like the idea of compacting the HHs a little bit.

Do you mean T$ everywhere or just in the header? I've made the other changes and will send it to you with the next version.

They are - or at least they are when I convert the hand. The paragraphs seem to get lost if you switch between editor modes though.

I also prefer up and down, I think it's easier to follow. Particularly when I have pot size in there and I want to add pot adds to call...

The next version is out there now, de-coder. Should I post the link for people to play with, or do you want to do more solo-testing?

I still prefer top to bottom, but I don't hate the compact one. I suppose I could make a poll and see which people prefer.

you can put it out there now - more feedback is better, particularly for bugs.

For people using it - in the page source of the output page is some commented debug code. If things don't appear as expected please post it and I'll look at it.

While the left-to-right would make for smaller HH, I find it easier to read top down - maybe it's just because I'm used to it, I'm not sure.

Here is the URL, if people would like to play around - Stars only, for now. Simply:

Stars only, but once the mechanics get worked out I should be able to add other sites fairly easily.

I think my next one would be the party poker group, as that's where I play when not on stars, but I'm open to suggestions - Full Tilt probably? I've been thinking about getting an account there....

Definitely, definitely 100% Full Tilt, next please. It's far more popular than PArty now that U.S. players (90% of this forum) can't play at Party any more. I don't even remember the last time someone posted a Party HH on this site. I'd guess 65% of them are from Full Tilt lately, 30% are from Stars, and the remaining 5% are everywhere else combined.

Anything new with this de-coder? I have to say, I like how clean this HH looks:

Maybe you can get a couple of ideas from that one.... namely, adding a link that reads:

Mayhem, just the other day, right? Now think about the last time someone posted one before then ... I'm stumped, too.
