Annual Family Poker Classic

Posted 04-14-09 at 07:11 PM by Invigilator

Whe had our Easter Saturday Poker extravaganza last weekend. There is a $5 and a $10 event. Each event has about 15-25 players, with the top 3 being paid.

The big deal is the medals. These are treated like the family version of a WSOP bracelet. (in that for many who play, the money is secondary)

I had not gotten a medal before this year, and have bubbled 4 times. (at least once a year).

This year I managed a second place finish in the $5 event. I made the final table in the $10 event, and was doing well until I got into a pot with player who had an under pair to the board and wouldn't fold to my hefty CB.

The rest of the night was good too, with a second place finish in an unofficial $5 tournament.

This event used to be unbelievably horrible, but enough of my cousins and friends play these days, that the final 7 of any tournament is generally difficult.

It was a good time as usual, and it took all of Easter Sunday to recover from 13 straight hours of poker, food and drinks.
