When your flush hits on the turn, if it is the nuts. its definitely a check or small bet to keep your player in the hand. However do not give away your hand. I would probably bet a low flush strong and see if someone chases a higher flush. When it hits on the turn CHECK OR BET A SMALL AMOUNT to keep the player in the pot!

yeh def theres nothing worse then overbetting and revealing ur hand after you've slow played it. however as has bin said earlier theres certain ways to bet the river, if theres just the 2 of u left, uv hit ur hand and have put ur opponant on a lesser hand, a small bet say 15-20% of the pot will intice ur opponent. Of course if he has position on u he could always overbet in which case id raise or push all in
