while thats great, id suggest not buying into an MTT with more than 3% of ur roll.

Dont get me wrong, Mtt is the reason why I play poker, now if I had say $3000 why should I not play a $100 I honestly feel at ease playing against decent players (this is not meant, to say all low level players are poor, as we now many high level players are worse) . I just cant see how bankroll should dictate mtt play its totally unlike cash play.

the reason I sat out was to prove to my friend that freeroll was so fucked with 90 percent of players so focused on winning nothing that once you have the target chips sit back and stop spending time on something so intense.

perhaps I hit lucky but I doubt, the 80 percent skill required was used in 2 solid hours play.

I have absolutley no problem with you hitting up a $100 but I also agree that there should be some sort of bankroll managment when you enter a mtt. I would say 5% should be fine though, only reason is you dont want to put a huge portion of your bankroll in play, be it cash game or mtt.

if you have 3k I cant see a reason why putting $100 in a tourney is not ok. Only thing is if you lose a couple of them have to be able to drop down levels, kinda like cash games. Like say you join 10 and bust out before the money each time. At that point I would like to see you drop down levels.

You HAVE to understand that in order to get deep in a given MTT (including the one last night), you absoultely have to get lucky. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the best of the best can't turn around sick 75%+ ROIs on their MTT buy in money, but I am saying that those same exact players can easily (and I do mean easily) not cash for 10 in a row. That just comes along with the territory.

Tournament players reply on big hits to help them withstand the long droughts in between. If you don't realize that, and think bankroll isn't an issue and think you'll always cash, you're going to be in for a very rude awakening.

completely agree with TP.

Right now im playing out of my roll, and i know it, and i want to. Im going for a quick hit before i go on holiday, if i lose thenfine, is tarted with $250. But im at $3.3k. Ive been playing all kinds of mad games, $10/$20 , $530 mil's, nightly $162s.

All im gonna say is ive bubbled the last 3 tourneys ive been in, and i wasnt unlucky or lucky, i was palying great, made none or one bad move, but didnt donk off chips. I got unlucky twice, and lost a race once. Thats your roll gone from $3k to $2.5k.

What if the next 2 games your in you get KK vs AA and lose early? Youll then need 2 cashes of decent size to be even, or one biggish hit.

Thats why if i was playing this for some proper acash or a living, id use the3% rule with 100% clarity.

P.S why dont u play sattys to events, and use the T$? build it that way??

look am not gonna slate any advice given, but I feel cash game players dont have the same mindset and skill to take down a multi tourny, Yes you are successfull at the level you play and prove that with data $ ect, But a good multi tourny player will win in the long run and perhaps show a greater return for the initial outlay than a moderate cash player.

I mean a £100 outlay on a few sites in a multi can win 50k now were do we see that with cash palyers.

This should rile a few.

And a $100 outlay intoa tourney...to win $50k youd need to beat nearly 2,000 ppl. Good luck doing that over 30 attempts

I think you should take the shots like I said in 1st place but to think that you are going to go deep right away is just silly. Sure you could be like eejit and crack a big one but the odds of that are very very VERY slim. Now im not saying you are not a great player but in tournaments luck plays a big factor and it might just not be a real lucky week for you.

to say im going to put 1/10th of my bankroll in this tourney because I know I will cash, well that is just silly. I say if you have 3k and want to throw 100 in a tourney then well that is very reasonable but if your bankroll is 3k and you want to buy into a $1,500 well that is just silly.

For a $1 outlay, you can win $300 million when the Powerball jackpot gets big enough. Screw poker - play the lottery!!!

Hopefully you see my point here. If not, no worries. But any serious poker player (even most so-called tourney experts) will agree that cash games are where the (consistent) money is at. A lot of people prefer tourney play, and that's fine.... but don't think you're good enough to not need a proper bankroll. Thinking you can outplay your opponents is one thing, but thinking you can outplay short term variance (and luck) is just silly.
