Im such a scrub
Man im such a scrub gave back all the money I made last night includeing the $3.00 from Lou. Did good last night moved my bankroll up from $60 to close to $120 with the help of hitting one of my $20 bonus from fulltilt. But this morning I sucked it up hard and ended with $71. Truth is some of my hands where cracked but I chased way to much this morning, oh well try to recover some tonight I will be on most of the night from 1am to 7am my time then I have to go to sleep and get ready for a 11pm shift at work. If any night owls out there stop by.
Just to make it clear this is not a bitch post, my fault for chasing and payed the price urg.

Here's one thing that I think works for me personally. If you're up big at a table (say 10 nl table and you're up to 20 or more), stand up and reload to a smaller amount. You'll have less to lose and possibly play a little more conservatively.

yep
yea I agree with chip here, with the bigger stack against smaller stacks you have great advantage. Imagine if you have $30 in chips against a bunch of people with $5 and $6 and you push them all in they are making a decision for thier whole stacks and you are only losing like 1/6th of your stack. They have to make the hard decision or if some guy wants to bully with a large stack and you break him then you win more then you would if you only had $10. Someone pushes all in for $20 bucks in chips and your holding AA, If you only had $5 in chips or even $10 you are winning alot less then you would if you kept your big stack and the other guy isnt losing as much. Is this basicly what you meant chip? |

Perhaps I am mistaken, but isn't this type of bullying more prevelent in tounament NL poker. I have heard of the advantage of a big stack in NL cash games being more so you can get the most from your big hands.
My (albeit limited) NL cash experience leads me to believe that players tend to stay in hands MORE in cash games since it is based more centrally on pure odds. I think this type of bullying at a cash table would be giving your money away as it would be quickly figured out. We are talking about .05/.10 NL alot of the players at that limit arnt smart enough to wait for the best hand to go in. You can bully them into pots when they are holding Ax or J10 or one of the very marginal hands. Not saying im gonna push them all in holding 66 or something. I will wait until I have a big hand check it in early position wait for them to bet (they will) then come over top just enough that I know they will call then bust them by the river. Alot of these players will call a bet with 2 overs when they already could be a mile behind, I remember a hand earlier where I was holding AJ...not my favorite hand but flop came out jack high and the raising started. I was pretty confident I had best hand and put them both in they called me one with JQ and the other with Ax, my hand held up and I won $20. That kind of stuff is the reason I won so much last night AND is the reason I lost so much this morning. Losing to 8-10 sucks!!!! Last edited by BrianSwa; 02-16-05 at 09:55 PM. |

nope
actully laying down some hands that normally I would run, hanging out in the .25/.50 nl right now up to about $110 roll and playing tight as shit. Laying down AJ and just layed down K10 to a raise, only bluffed 1 pot so far and I dont plan on bluffing any at all. Playing with people that like to push thier big stacks right now and have caught them on it once or twice. I feel real comfortable in this game, I know my stack isnt really enough for this game and if I lose $20 I will stop, but for right now im ok. Gonna go to sleep in couple minutes so Ill catch you all later...gl at the tables. |

when you have a bankroll this is obviously nessecary... but personally when im down to liek 30 bux on pp, i buyin 10 on 3 tight 25nl tables and simply bluff every hand. when i get caught i have less to lose, and if im playing at tight tables they arent going to pay off my big hands with their entire stack anyways, so why put it all out there? im only going to get it all in if i have the nuts and a guy has the 2nd nuts, if the tables are as tight as i like them when im using this strategy. when you play in a looser game this strategy would suck ass, trust me ive tried it hahah...
for anyone who hasnt tried it yet, i reccomend looking for the lowest avg pot in 25nl, buying in like 9 bux, and abuse position. when you see people who buyin 5 bucks, thats very good; theyre waiting for aces or kings, and in the meantime you get their blinds and limps. this doesnt really work if you play at big tables, 6 player max's are the best for this. just make sure when you bluff, its at least 75% of the pot size. and bluff every time you get the opportunity. pay attention to how people bet... if you raise with position and someone calls out of the blinds and the flop is all rags, and they lead into you, raise the pot on them; when you sense weakness in a player's bet, take advantage of it. obviously stay away from calling stations without good hands... hmm lets see oh yeah when new players join the table and they dead post, raise. if you bet 2.5 to earn a pot of 2, or maybe even 4 if someone calls and you take it down on the flop, youre just making money this would never work above 0.5/1, but just try it in 25nl its really fun |
