Eliminating the shortstack. Chip leader’s responsibility?

In being the leader, I did not “believe” it was my obligation, but was baffled as to why nobody else was calling when clearly the party almost had to go all in or was making a desperate attempt to steal a pot. I was just a bit put off that others were not playing the odds and in my view the way the hand should be played. Early on, I attributed it to less talented players, but when this continued throughout the tourney, I was surprised. Why does this not happen when I am short stacked and trying to make some dough…??? ;-)

Actually, maybe I cannot complain since as a result of their play; I became a bit more aggressive and took many pots without going to a showdown. I did expect a trap at some point but it never came.

On another note, Talking Poker had made a comment in regard to communicating before the #2 player made his decision and I want to clarify that I did not make the statement until after I lost the hand. I did make the comment “Must have had a horrible run of cards not to be helping out huh?” Is this still deemed as unacceptable? I have read that multiple calls on a short stacks all in (at the final table) is tactic as well and thought it to be an unwritten understanding between players if will. I have also heard people apologize to others after the short stack doubled up saying they should have been in the pot. In any event, I am glad to know I was out of line…

Actually this is odd for me as I will normally keep my mouth shut unless I am trying to grab information on a huge hand. That is a rarity as well as I am nowhere near good enough to do anything other than shoot myself in the foot. Someday, I would love to be able to extract information while being a cool and collected as Negreanu, but for now, I have no business doing any of that crap outside of my head.
