I believe the heat between Annie and Daniel was real. Howard Ledered wrote this "Open Letter" to Daniel a while ago:

PS. I also find Annie to be quite annoying. I think it has to do with all her 'I'm such a girl.' comments. She uses every fricken opportunity to say it.
