Cause he's one of those private types and doesn't like to "brag" about his success, even though we all know it's not bragging. That's why he never posts in the Railbird section (I assume), which is fine, of course. To each their own.
If it was up to him, no one here would even know about his awesome WCOOP cash. But no way was I gonna let that one slide at the time - That was one Final Table that definitely needed to be railed! |

Ummm, holy crap. Its like something that exists on clouds.
I do not have nearly as much fun at cash as you said. I also end up losing money when I chase bonuses...maybe twice I have come up more than even. NL tourneys are splendid, and I have not played cash in a month. And I dont miss it at all. Its nifty to see someone else with the same inclinations. Anyhoo, Im happy for you, I know its got to be nice to win the money but also know all the time you spend playing poker isnt for naught(sp?). Anyhoo, I hope your wife and you have fun. If she had issues with poker before, Im sure they are not as large now. Again, congrats. PS I always thought you and TP had some weird man love thing going on

I feel much better about winning 1 of 3 in the HUC against him now.
Wish I knew beforehand, not that it would have done any good. Congrats to both of you guys for doing so well at the game you love. |

Thanks everybody. A few quick things:
1.) I feel goofy about posting when i am at a final table or getting deep - i feel like i jinx myself or i might second guess myself knowing i have people watching me (other than TP - i am used to his scrutiny). Not that i have a ton of final tables, but i will try to post more often when i do get to one. 2.) I thought about posting my recent success as a sort of 'afterward-railbird-me' type of thing - not to brag, but to show you all "Hey, one of us did pretty well - if bdawg can do it, i can do it!" type of thing. 3.) When TP mentioned that i sent an email saying i was going to try those two and call it a night - he should have said i was going to call it A MONTH! I have been getting my a$$ handed to me ever since that big WCOOP hit. And i mean at every game and at every level - take away Aruba and i have been getting crushed. I tried moving up in stakes and did well for a little while, then got hammered. Moved down, got hammered. Moved to where i usually play (5/10 and some 10/20) and got hammered. Moved to 3/6 - got hammered. Played Sit N goes - got hammered. Played MTTs - got hammered or min. cashes. A couple satellites - nothing. I think i had 3 'really good' sessions that whole time. One of those times i had a nice $1500 finish in a tourney - and lost it all the next day. I had literally planned on playing those two satellites, figured i would lose, and then i was going to take december off - or just play real low MTTs for fun when i had the time. Then BINGO! Moral of that long and rambling 3rd item - stay focused when things go bad. I would say 75% of that was a bad run - but i know 25% of that was me making mistakes out of frustration. And given that poker players always give themselves more credit - those numbers are probably worse. I am also leaning towards pretty much giving up cash games - just playing them now and then just so i dont totally lose it. Not even counting these two recent wins - if i think about the money i am up and divide it between cash games and tourneys - tourneys contributed a LOT more. And i have spent a LOT less time playing tourneys than cash games. Plus, i enjoy tourneys MUCH more. That means giving up bonuses - but at some point i guess i need to let that go. Thanks again everyone. I am no wonder-kid - trust me. I am just a grinder. |

Yep - that is the one. When i signed up for it, i wasnt even really thinking it through. And i sort of thought it was a package deal as well. But, you get the buy-in and $1k cash - which i am obviously putting towards the trip costs. This is kinda cool though - luckily i have some WCOOP money left - going to take some of that and make this a nice trip for me and the wifey-wife. If i bust out early - no biggie, i am in AUSTRALIA!
I checked out the official website - they had like 260ish in it last year - i am thinking that even if they double their numbers - still an interesting field. Of course, i suspect all these players will be REALLY good -since the field is so small and buy-in so high. I like to be aggressive - i think i will take that approach and turn it up a notch - might hvae to rely on aggression and luck in that event. |

I wouldn't count on that. Australia is REALLY far away, and I believe this is not a WPT event, right? So I'm thinking most of the pros probably skip this one... especially with it being immediately after the Bahamas event that I know they will all be attending.
All I'm saying is I don't think the field will be nearly as bad as you think. And I think you're going to cash and maybe even go deep. Let me be the first to say I'd like to buy 1 or 2% of you if you decide to sell some shares to help cover your airfare costs, etc.... |
