I can tell that it will go over all the real complicated stuff, but does it go over basic things too? Like how to simply get Hand histories into pokertracker from pokerstars (cuz i currently cant even figure that out)

Yeah it covers everything. It mostly focuses on party and cash games though.
What you are looking for is the lightning bolt in the top left corner. Click that and then just point it to the HH file inside of the pokerstars program folder. Simply start the auto import every time before you start playing, and it does all the work for you.

You don't need to pay for basic instructions.
Have you tried the "help" file in the program. You can search PokerStars and it will basically hold your hand and walk you through it.

Nevermind, I tried to look and it is confusing for Stars.
Anyway, open stars and click on options. Go to "instant hand history" and select "save to my hard drive" or whatever. Select folder to save it to. Open PT, click on the lightning bolt on toolbar. make sure it says "look for files on my pc." select "all text files in folder" select configure and browse to select the file you specified at Stars. Click OK and it should be on and poppin.

The pokertracker update killed my pick-me-up.

I'm sure this is a real stuid question - but - do u need to have Pokertracker up and running while ur playing for it to put the hand histories in ?

If the hand histories are getting saved on your hard drive (like pshabi's instructions above) then the next time you open up PokerTracker it will import the hand histories.
I always have it running so it will rate the people I'm playing against during the game. |

If you want to have it auto-importing them in real time, then yes.
If not. You can just go back later and use the "import" feature (as opposed to "auto-import"). Manually select the hand history file and it's imported in a few minutes. The advantage to having the auto-import going is big for me as a multitabling limit player. I don't use PT in real time when I play NLHE, btw.
