I watched this final tbl last night and it was a great result for the 3 of these players, karen19: $96,973.67: danistheking: $101,973.66: papoorboy: $106,973.66 with papoorboy taking the remaining 10k.
The deal was spot on and IMO totally right, I will tell you why. Non of the remaining 3 players are pro,s and play with the hope of winning or placing in a tourny like this, when there was 6 players left Karen19 asked for a chop based on chips she was in 5th. papoorboy agreed and was in 4th, these 2 platers were looking at 50-60k if the tbl would have said yes, danistheking was in 6th and did not respond, after danisthe king fought back from 800k to 2.6m there was then 5 players in the game again Karen and pap asked for a chop but was totally rejected by Gollum this continued until Gollum was knocked out and placed 4th. Karen asked for a chop based on chips and was looking at around 80-85k, pap agreed and then danistheking said no I want an equal chop 3way, much to Karens delight and he gave a simple reason why he wanted this equall chop at this stage and regardless of chip count (2m - 2.6m - 5.6m) the game was anyones and 3rd place was 60k, danistheking knew that both the remaining players were jumping with joy in reaching this stage and wanted to chop for the past hour, he made the right call by asking for 100k and knew that pap didnt really want to take a chance on only placing 3rd, which was possible even with her chip lead. No IMO a great deal for the 3 players and possibly life changing, so I disagree with your post and no one acted like a little girl and in the same posistion I would of agreed to the deal as I feel many would of.

That is some sick money for the top 3 players of an online poker tournament. That's all I know.

the only thing that i thought was legit was that danis GOT HIS WAY. i still can't believe that papoor let dan run over him like that. I give props to dan for getting that much money based on his chip stack but pa should've stood up for himself and got an extra 14k

I just ran into almost the same situation yesterday except I was chip leader
114k 100k 96k so I was not a big chip leader. Well not 2 to 1 like you said this one was. And it was not for 100k But if you ask me would I rather have 1500 or 600 I was happy taking 1st place with 1100. 1100 in the bank is better than a chance at 600 and anyone who knows tournament poker knows that no matter what your chip lead is 3rd place could always be 2-3 hands away. I sacrificed 400 bucks for a guar. 1100 which is good. It's not life changing money but when talking about 94 thousand dollars I think you'd take the chop too |

I think you made a good deal Gov, but I don't like the other one above very much. With THAT much of a chip lead, unlewss they felt they were outmatched. I would go by the percentages that you will get unlucky enough to lose your lead. With a 10-20% lead I think it is safe to say you could easily lose your lead in one hand. A deal is not a bad idea here.
In the other situation....What if the 2:1+ chip leader had NOT taken the deal of essentially an even split. They played a few hands and the chip leader lost two hands and essentially evened out the stacks. NOW they all decide to make a deal and the deal would be.....THE SAME SPLIT. If a deal is to be made there, it HAS to be weighted to the chip leader to be fair. They DO have a distinct advantage.

I agree no way I am doing that deal with a 2 to 1 chip lead. Of course I doubt will be in that position any time soon.

I agree with you people BUT... you could have 100 to 1 chip lead and still lose
remember the heads up championship with Esfandiari and Lednerer ??? ![]() If I had a 2 to 1 lead I would be wary about making a deal but like someone said this might be life changing money. Someone living paycheck to paycheck with 3 grand in the bank sees 100k as a100k and no matter how good your doing if you know you can bank 100 grand your going to do it because even though the chance of only getting 70k or so is real small it's still a possiblity. P.S. If your living paycheck to paycheck Poker is not a game you should be playing ![]() Unless your REAL good at it |
