I guess it comes down to personal choice, but I still wonder if I did the right thing so I'll throw it out to you guys.
1200 FPP 3-Table game, winner gets a $530 seat to Sundays big multi at Stars, second doesn't even get a handshake. We are three handed and big stack knocks out second stack which leaves us heads up, him about 33,000 chips and me around 7,000 with blinds 400/800. He offers me $100 to give up. Deal or not?

![]() What math? You have more than 19% equity here. Yeah your chip stack is just over 1/5 the size of his, but the blinds are high enough that anything can happen. I'm not good at working deals, but surely you need more to make it worth it. I think you take 200 and no less than 175?? |

Good point, John. For the record, I'd definitely do some haggling before I decided, but my original thoughts would be in the back of my head.

It's actualy a reasonable offer.... *I* wouldn't take less than $150, but I wouldn't blame someone for taking the $100.
During the negotiations, I'd gently remind me opponent that if I double up just once, it's a whole new ball game, and it's VERY easy to double up Heads Up. IMO, short stacks generally don't give themselves enough credit when making deals. That's why I'll almost never take a deal as the short stack, but would ive it serious consideration as the chip leader... not because I don't have confidence that I can win, but because I understand that the deal will likely be overly-favorable towards me as the chip leader. |
