Heres somethign i never got - apart from the yankees, why are the Cubs the most loved team in MLB?

For starters, the cubs are the winningest team in baseball history (games). I can't really think of another reason why they would be considered one of america's favorite baseball teams. I've just been a fan since I was born. Mom's family is from Illinois. I'm from Alaska, we have to pro sports teams.
