Bob Stanley threw the wild pitch. Calvin Schowtwhjtewoet something or other was the first pitcher of the inning.
I was the first person in my family not born in New England...that's like the worst night of my mom's, uncle's, aunt's, grandparents' lives. (I'm required to know all about who to hate and why) But, you are right...sure, Buckner made an error that cost them the last run. However, he didn't give up three consecutive hits with two outs. And, he most assuredly, did not blow game 7.

Buckners error just put the end to a Boston Meltdown, he wasnt the main reason why they lose.

Great YouTube clip.
I too just watched Game 6 from 1986 on ESPN Classic last week. I noticed the Player of the game reference too and got a kick out of it. I remember watching the game in 86 with my old man, and its funny I have seen the tenth so many times over the years that I remembered nearly every pitch. Great game! |
